Taketo Shimohigoshi founded A.A.E. in Tokyo in 1997. The firm handles architectural design, landscape design, urban planning, and interiors. Shimohigoshi studied architecture at Yokohama National University and worked at Atsushi Kitagawara's office before establishing his own practice.

The studio has completed residential projects, commercial buildings, and public spaces across Japan. Work includes single-family homes, multi-unit housing, retail interiors, and cultural facilities. Projects range from urban Tokyo sites to regional contexts in Wakayama and Nagano prefectures.

A.A.E. has received recognition from the Architectural Institute of Japan, Good Design Awards, and international publications. Shimohigoshi teaches architecture at Hosei University while maintaining the practice. The firm operates as a first-class registered architectural office in Tokyo.
