Markus Töll builds chairs like others learn languages—through touch, failure, and long conversations with material. Raised in Bressanone, Italy, he first learned from steel, discovering how industrial materials remember every bend. Later, in London’s darkrooms, he found that light too leaves traces, shaping his fascination with transformation and time.

Now working from his Vienna studio, founded in 2022 after earning a master’s in architecture from TU Vienna, Markus creates metal chairs that resist convention. Informed by years translating between drawing and making, his work questions proportion and comfort, revealing structure as a kind of truth. His chairs don’t follow style—they uncover what material remembers.
