Son Serra
BonVivant integrates local art in Mallorca estate
Date
August 13, 2025
BonVivant designed Son Serra, a minimalist estate on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The design firm incorporated works by local artists throughout the residence to create distinctive character while respecting the property's historical context as a traditional finca.
The layout combines kitchen and living room into a single communal space for family gatherings. Traditional cookware sourced from the Son Serra area connects current inhabitants with the property's agricultural past. This integration of historical elements maintains continuity with the site's original function.
Custom elements include a bathtub designed by BonVivant's studio and the firm's 'Plat Pendant Lamp'. These bespoke pieces demonstrate the studio's approach of creating site-specific furniture rather than using standard products. The pairing shows attention to how individual elements work together within the overall design.
The project reflects BonVivant's consistent practice of supporting local artistic talent while creating functional residential spaces. The combination of contemporary minimalism with traditional Mallorcan elements produces a design that feels both current and rooted in place.
